Are you dealing with an overabundance of pest birds on your property? Are they getting into places they shouldn't, and leaving dropping in places you would prefer they didn't? Are they nesting in your attic spaces, rafters, ledges, or on top of light fixtures? We understand how frustrating this can be. But we hope you're not thinking of dealing with your problem using DIY bird control. Here are a few reasons you might want the bird control experts here at Action Pest Control to help you get control of those birds.

1. Right Solution. Wrong Bird.

There are many products that can help you get control of pest birds, but some of them work for specific birds. If you use a great solution to stop the wrong bird, it won't be a great solution anymore. This can be extremely frustrating, especially after you've spent a lot of money and a lot of time.

2. Almost But Not Quite.

Some bird control solutions work for all pest birds but, when these products are installed incorrectly, birds can still cause issues. This is especially true of pigeons. Pigeons are some of the smartest animals on the planet. They are one of only a few animals that are able to recognize themselves in a mirror, and their ability to distinguish between all 26 letters of the alphabet is astounding for a bird.

3. Dangers.

If you don't get control of your bird problem, you can be exposed to many dangers you may not even realize. Birds aren't just nuisance pests. They can present health risks and pose a threat to your property. Here are just a few problems birds can bring onto, and into, your property.

Illness

There are many pathogens and bacteria that can be spread by birds. Pigeons are often called flying rats because of how dirty they can be. Pest birds like this can expose you to harmful bacteria and parasites.

Parasites

Are you aware that birds carry fleas and ticks? When birds roost on your property, their nests can be a source of flea infestation. Dogs and cats that get near birds' nests can pick fleas up and bring them inside. When they do, those fleas expose you to diseases such as bartonellosis and Murine typhus. A single bird can have more than a hundred seed ticks on it. Those are the six-legged larvae of ticks. When these seed ticks fall off, they go looking for new hosts and may attach to the skin of humans.

Damage

The roosts that birds make can be unsightly, but that is only the beginning of the issues they can cause. Some birds create nests in power boxes. This presents a fire hazard. The droppings birds leave are corrosive. This is because it contains uric acid.

Liability

When birds leave their droppings on the ground, it can create a slipping hazard and lead to liability.
