Born in Auburn, Alabama, Mr. Pass was raised in Lexington, Kentucky. His father, Bobby C. Pass, was the chairman of the U.K. Department of Entomology. His mother, Ann R. Pass, was a school teacher and an artist. Mr. Pass currently resides in Newburgh, Indiana with his wife, Della. Mr. and Mrs. Pass have five children: Rachael, Samuel, Sheridan, Trevor, and Marissa.
